Economic sustainability

As per the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nation, India imports about 3,50,000 tonnes of date fruits from the world. ARDP aims to indigenously produce date palm plants through tissue culture technology enabling farmers to harvest fruits of premium quality for local consumption. This will reduce the dependency on imports and also result in additional income for the farmers in India and other countries. Cultivation of date palm helps to generate rural employment, save valuable foreign exchange by import substitution and develop downstream food processing industry.
